So we told Conner Saturday morning that we would go get him a bike as soon as Daddy got home from work. So all day I got to hear about Daddy coming home from work and going to get the bike. So the big moment finally arrived; Andy got home, we got in the car and drove the hour to Sioux City to the bike shops. The first place we got to had closed early so then we went to a sporting goods store, but their bikes were too big. So then we went to Target and Walmart only to find another poor selection of bicycles. (This trip was done only because we had already found a bike that Conner liked in Sioux Center, but we wanted to shop around). So we got back in the car to drive the hour back home to go to the bike shop in Sioux Center. During the ride I could hear Conner having a conversation with himself in the back seat talking about seeing all the bicycles and how they were all too big!... He eventually got tired of talking to himself and started up the conversation that every 3-year old and their mother have about a thousand times a day... "Mommy do you see the truck? Mommy, the baby is sleeping. Mommy, are we going to another bike store? Mommy..... Mommy.... Mommy.....Mommy......Mommy..... As every mother knows, these conversations can last a very long time, so I tried to direct some of the questioning to Andy. This is how that went.
(ME) "Conner, why don't you ask daddy!?!
(CONNER) "Daddy?"...
(ANDY)yes..."
(CONNER) "I'm talking to mommy!"
Needless to say, it was a long ride home.
We finally got Conner a bike at the first shop we had visited a week ago, and he was very excited. It even has a bell!
