A couple nights before we left for Vegas I had gotten up to use the bathroom. It felt abnormally cold, but I figured it was just because I had gotten out of a warm bed. An hour later, Molly came back from feeding Addie, and said that her entire body was like ice. (I thought she was kidding, and I was in the mood for ice cream, so I made a joke; but it wasn't recieved very well). So I got up to find that the temperature in our house was 45 degrees. The heater had stopped working, (and it was one of the coldest nights in Orange City... -20 with -40 wind chill. no exaggeration). So we were a bit concerned. I went to see if the airways were blocked on the outside of the house, but they weren't. Then I opened up the emergency air flow in the basement, but that didn't help either. After looking a bit closer at our furnace, I noticed that the back two burners were working, but once the cycle triggered, the front two burners were not. So we called the emergency plumbing people at 4am. I went to work, Molly and the kids stayed in our bedroom with a space heater and watched movies, (which Conner thought was wonderful), and the heating and plumbing guy spent the day putting a new furnace in our house. It's not that don't mind getting a good furnace for our 100 year old house, it's just that I had a lot of better places for our $3,800 tax return to go to... A four wheeler for Conner and I, a go kart for Conner and I, a day at the lake on wave runners for Conner and I, more money for our broker to invest for Conner and I, or a doll for Molly and Addie. Oh well, I guess it's good that we didn't have to go INTO debt for our new 'toy'. And heat is important too, right???
Wow, that's Cold! Crazy that the furnace died like it did. That is so good that you didn't have to go into debt for a new one!
ReplyDeletewhy don't you spend your money on something important like your fav sister!!!
ReplyDeleteDallon and I felt the same way when we had to fix our car. We were sure glad that we had savings but we were bummed that it had to go to the car instead of a laptop or a new t.v. (since we still have the one you guys gave us years ago). Good thing we didn't need to go into debt for it. We love you guys and miss your humor.
