We almost lost Addy

I think enough time has past that we can talk about the day addy was born with everyone else. It started out normal. I was due the next day, but was too impatient to wait any longer. So they induced me, and a few hours later I went into labor. After a few minutes of Addy's head being out, the doctor started to have a panic look. We didn't have any idea what was going on, but later found out the baby was completely stuck. Her shoulders were too broad for my opening and the doctor wasn't going able to get her out. (She told us the next day that this was how they lose babies). Basically, my doctor had two choices: She could yank the baby out knowing that all of her bones would be crushed, or just let the baby die. She decided to go with the first. Once the baby was out, 4 other nurses and doctors were called into the room. They all surrounded Addy trying to get her to cry, but to no avail. She wasn't moving or breathing. The entire right side of her body was limp and she was showing no sign of even a small struggle. The worst part was that I was still sitting in the bed with no idea on what was going on. No one would tell us anything. For the next hour and a half, they just kept working and working with Addie and eventually even calling in more doctors. This is when we learned what a code blue was. At one point they almost gave up when Addy finally started to breath, and then make little noises.

Later, our doctor found that Addy didn't have any broken bones, just a pinched nerve on the right side of her body. After taking her home from the hospital, Addy gradually started to show improvement with her right leg, arm and eye. Today, she moves just fine, except for her eye, which will probably not ever open all the way. Addy is now doing well, but we always remember the day we almost lost our daughter.
