Occasionally my job has me running catering events around Orange City. Last night was one of those events in which we did a wedding for a young couple going to school here at Northwestern. During these special events, I’m often reminded of Molly and I during our, ‘first time’ moments before and after we started dating. Molly and I met thru a mutual friend during our freshman year at college. I remember getting so excited to see her walking up the hill after her classes each day. We used to sit right outside Molly’s dorm and talk for hours on anything and everything. Molly and I gradually became friends thru these small interactions with each other. When fall semester started, we both moved off campus. I was in Pine View, and Molly was in Heritage Manor, (a distance walked several times by the two of us). We started dating during that time as well. I would often wake up at 6:15 just to walk Molly to her early morning classes. Molly would usually come over after my classes at the end of the day and make blueberry muffins. She was perfect in my eyes and I wasn’t shy about letting people know it. When our relationship started reaching new levels we started to trust each other, as most couples do at some point in time, with sensitive, and sometimes personal, information, which only strengthened our relationship even further. Molly was off track during winter semester, so we were apart for awhile, which I believe gave us both time to figure out if the other was, ‘the one’. After a few months of pondering and prayer, I proposed to Molly Linn Glaze. We were set to be married May 10th of 2002.
I’ve been married to my sweet wife for over 6 years now and am so thankful that she let me be apart of her life. Molly has been an excellent partner as well as mother. Molly and I are about to have our second child now and are so very excited for this new life that's about to enter our world. Molly mirrored traits of my mother, which was a lot of what I was looking for in a women. And I mirrored traits of Molly’s father, which was a lot of what she was looking for in a man. I then look back at this young couple who just started their journey, and can only wonder if, thru all of the ups and downs a marriage brings, they’ll be just as happy as Molly and I are now.
I know I rarely say it to you Molly; but, I love you. Lots and Lots!
